Day 1

Arrival to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport OR if you are already arrived to Budapest, breakfast at your hotel.

In the morning hours departure from Budapest with your local guide and your private transfer to Lake Balaton.

The first stop will be the Sümeg Castle, the largest and most intact castle in Hungary. All the parts of the Castle can be visited: inner and external castle and the citadel as well. There are various exhibitions in the castle, like the torture chamber and prison, the chapel, the medieval kitchen and many more. In case of you visit Sümeg in Summer time, you will have the chance to take part on a knights’ tournament show and even a medieval feast. These elements are not included in our original program, but can be added and booked upon availability. In Sümeg the guests will have free time to have lunch on their own.

In the afternoon, after Sümeg the guests visit a charming little town close to Lake Balaton, called Tapolca, where an extraordinary Lake Cave is located. Those who are interested in the secrets of the underground world are invited to an exciting boat trip under the streets of the town. In the strictly protected cave, which was discovered more than 100 years ago, the visitors can make a unique boat trip on the lit, bluish water of the underground lake. After the cave visit the guests will have a short free time for a walk or for having a coffee in this nice town.

In the late afternoon the guests proceed towards their accommodation.

Day 2

Breakfast at your hotel.

The first stop of the day will be in Hévíz, where the world’s largest biologically-active natural thermal lake can be found, which is able to refresh the body and the soul alike. The healing power of the water was already known to our ancestors. The water of the lake is in a constant move, and its temperature may reach 23-25 °C in winter and 33-36 °C in summer. In winter it provides a spectacular and unique experience when the condensed steam forms a steam cap on the top of the lake surface. A soak into this water-lily-laden lake is essential for anyone visiting the Lake Balaton region. The program includes a walk in this area, but those ones who wants to try the amazing feeling of bathing in the lake, we provide free time to buy a ticket on the spot and spend some time in the hot water.

After Hévíz the guests travel to Keszthely, the oldest settlement of Lake Balaton, that was an important hub of commerce in Roman times. Here you can visit the Festetics Palace. The beautiful Festetics Mansion with its ornate wrought iron gate, surrounded by an English park, is the third largest chateau in the country. After the visit the guests have free time in the town, for having lunch on their own, or have a walk to the lakeside.

In the afternoon the guests visit the Folly Arboretum, that provides an amazing panorama to the lake. The Folly Arboretum is not simply one of many botanic gardens. Visit and enjoy the tranquillity surrounding the cedar trees and take a look at the magnificent views to Lake Balaton. You can taste the wines that the owners have been producing utilizing their expertise and hard work.

After the walk in the arboretum, transfer back to the hotel.

Day 3

Breakfast at your hotel.

After checking out from the hotel, we take the guests to a beautiful little town, Tihany.
It feels like there are parallel Tihanys existing at once. You have the traditional one, with the echo and the farm houses, with the abbey and its two towers that can be recognized from everywhere in Balaton, and all the tourists that come with this. Between the lavender pillows and the folk cheesiness, Tihany is filled with quite great places. Upon arrival we invite our guests to visit the Benedictine Abbey of Tihany. The oldest written words in the Hungarian language can be found in the 1055 establishing charter of the abbey. Due to its excellent location, the abbey has a magical view of the eastern corner of Balaton as well as the south shore.

After admiring the beautiful view from Tihany, the guests visit an other nice town alongside the Lake Balaton, and it is Balatonfüred. It is a historic town with an exciting present. Is famous for many other things: renowned writers, poets, and actresses came here for the Anne-ball, and if it wasn’t for its great heart hospital, the Nobel laureate Hindu poet, Rabindranáth Tagore might not have written his most beautiful late poems, and then the promenade wouldn’t be named after him either. The guests have free time here, they can have lunch or coffee on their own in one of the nice cafés or restaurants.

In the afternoon, after a nice walk at the lake, the guests will have a last stop at Herend, where they visit the world famous Porcelain Manufactory. Herend Porcelain Manufactory operates today as the world’s largest porcelain manufactory and as a profitable enterprise. Herend achieves the balance of tradition and innovation passing on its 19th Century traditions into the 21st Century.

In the late afternoon, after the visit, transfer back to Budapest.
