Day 1 

Arrival to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport OR if you are already arrived to Budapest, breakfast at your hotel.

In the morning hours departure from Budapest with your local guide and your private transfer to Pécs. The guests will spend the day with a nice walk in the town centre and will visit the Cella Septichora Visitor Centre and the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul. The uniqueness of the Early Christian cemetery of Sopianae is that here a high number of buildings were concentrated. These are smaller family burial chambers and larger community sepulchral vaults, cemetery buildings. A part of these are decorated; inside they have pictures of biblical scenes and Early Christian symbols that further raise the uniqueness and the universal cultural values of these monuments. Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul is the most popular attraction in Pécs. Its exterior is basically a mess of different architectural and art styles. If you like the exterior, you will be blown away by the interior. Never ending patterns in numerous colours represent a unique style that could be described as an arranged chaos. Most of the frescoes and statues in the cathedral were made by Hungarian artists.

During the day the guests will have free time to have lunch on their own.

In the late afternoon the guests proceed towards their accommodation.

In the evening the guests are invited to Littke Palace Visitors’ Centre, where they can taste Hungary’s oldest quality sparkling wine and visit the cellar system.

Day 2 

Breakfast at your hotel.

The guests take a small sightseeing train tour from downtown of Pécs to Zsolnay Quarter. Zsolnay Cultural Quarter is visited by tourists from all over the world as Zsolnay factory, its industrial artistic and cultural charisma and heritage had a decisive importance to the unfolding of the culture of Hungarian applied art of the nineteenth century and the development of the modern city of Pécs. By establishing a variety of cultural, public education, entertainment, culinary and educational facilities here, the area has become a vibrant cultural quarter.

After the visit the guests have free time in the town, for having lunch on their own, or have a walk.

In the afternoon the guests are invited to a pleasant wine tour to Villánykövesd, to the most romantic wine cellar system in the region. The guests are free to enter to any cellars that is open and taste the wines that they offer.

In the evening transfer back to the hotel, and overnight there.

Day 3 

Breakfast at your hotel.

After checking out from the hotel, we take the guests to one of the best known and most popular natural attractions of the Mecsek Mountains, to the Abaliget Cave. A continuous exploration of the cave has revealed the 466 m long main passage and three side passages. Invisibly to the human eye the cave is still in constant change. It is an important hibernation site, during the winter months hundreds of the Lesser and Greater Horseshoe bats roost here. The average temperature of the cave is 12 °C, its climate gives relief to those suffering from respiratory diseases, allergy, or asthma. Many of its impressive dripstones got a name, you can see the ’Leaning Tower of Pisa’, the ’Florian’s Well’, ’Calvary’, ’Niagara Fall’ among many others. There are legends, beliefs connected to some of the dripstones, cliffs, and other natural formations which you can hear about as part of the guided tour.

After visiting the cave, the guests depart back to Budapest, with a stop in Orfű, where they can have free time, lunch, or coffee on their own in one of the cafés or restaurants, or just simply walk a bit around the Orfű Lake. The Orfű Lakes is an artificial lake system, that is fed by the abundant karst water from the Head of Water. The lake as a reservoir has a multi-purpose function, in addition to flood protection, recreational areas and the creation of water sports facilities, sport fishing has also played an important role.
