Day 1

Arrival to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport OR if you are already arrived to Budapest, breakfast at your hotel.

In the morning hours departure from Budapest with your local guide and your private transfer to Sopron. The day starts with a nice walk in the city centre. During the sightseeing the guests can visit the symbol of the town, the Fire Tower. The characteristic shape of the present tower, the baroque balcony, the spire and the clock tower with a multi-stored onion dome dates from the reconstruction after the town fire of 1676. From the tower balcony visitors get a spectacular view to the town and its surroundings. The new visitor centre functioning in the tower base supply visitors with further information on the exhibitions of the Soproni Museum.

After the tower visit the guests will have free time to have lunch on their own.

In the early afternoon the guests are invited to take part on a chocolate tasting experience at the Harrer Chocolate Factory. The Austrian confectioner dynasty Harrer goes back four generations and aims to initiate you into the mysteries of pralines, truffles, flavoured chocolate and so much more.

In the evening the culinary experiences continue at a local winery with a tasting of 3 types of wines and a cavalcade of cold cuts from Hungarian specialties.

Day 2

Breakfast at your hotel.

After checking out from the hotel, we take the guests to the beautiful Esterházy Castle, to the ‘The Hungarian Versailles’ in Fertőd. The biggest and most magnificent Baroque-Rococo palace of Hungary is a real gem of this area. The construction and splendour of the palace complex is connected to Prince Esterházy „Bright” Miklós, who was continuously building it from 1762 until his death in 1790, in order to create a residence that is worthy to royal households, where sumptuous celebrations took place day after day. The great composer Joseph Haydn also lived and composed here, as well. The park of the palace and the associated landscape is the most matured creation of the Baroque garden art works in Hungary, and at the same time, an ambitious and exemplary appearance of the Baroque landscaping, even by European scale.

After the castle visit the guests proceed to Pannonhalma, where they visit the Millenary Benedictine Abbey. It is one of the most outstanding national historic sites in Hungary, a religious and art historical centre. Both in its architecture and intellectual traditions, the Abbey is a unique example of a one-thousand-year-old, active Christian monastery that has evolved through a history of continuous operation. This is a place that visitors should not miss when they are travelling to Hungary.

The guests have free time here, they can have lunch or coffee on their own.

In the late afternoon, after the visit, transfer back to Budapest.
