In the morning travelling to Hollókő by coach.

Hollókő: Approximately 100 kilometers to the Northeast of Budapest lies Hollókő in a picturesque hilly surrounding. This museum village was added to the list of World Heritage sites for preserving unique values of folk and applied art. The visitors can truly get a feel of how people used to live in the past centuries, as well as experience the hospitality of the locals. In the heart of the village, there is a Catholic church with wooden towers which dates back to 1889. Around it we can find characteristic whitewashed “Paloc” houses which host handicraft workshops and exhibition houses.

Hollókő program: Members of the Hollókő Women´s Choir dressed in their regional costumes welcome the visitors with brandy (pálinka) and cottage cheese pie or scones (pogácsa) at the barnyard at the entrance of the Old Village. The women will also show their beautiful traditional garments, (you may try and dress up here too) then the spinning house closes with a folk dance in which the visitors are also welcomed to take part. This is followed by a walk in the Old Village with stopovers at the Church, at the Village Museum and at the Weaving House. Along the way the tour guide gets you acquainted with the history and ethnography of Hollókő, explains the facts and legend of the Castle and depicts the present lives of the villagers.

After the program 2 course-lunch with a drink in the village, then transfer to Eger.

Eger: The next stop of the tour is the picturesque baroque town of Eger where a handful of Hungarian warriors successfully defended the town’s fort against an Ottoman force of forty thousand in the year of 1552. The tour includes a short walk in the city and visiting various historical exhibitions available in the fort and the ruin garden with the rotunda. After the sightseeing you can enjoy a nice dinner with wine tasting at a local vinery.

Transfer back to Budapest.
