The main shopping areas are located in Pest’s City Center. One of them is Váci Street (Váci utca), Budapest’s famous, upscale, pedestrian-only promenade. Designated as a pedestrian precinct, it runs from Vörösmarty Square to Vámház körút (Central Market Hall) featuring a vast choice of fashionable shops, restaurants and cafés. You’ll find plenty of boutiques, folk-art and souvenir shops, foreign-language bookstores, and classical-record shops in the area. Before starting your exploration of Váci Street you can have a cup of coffee with a slice of cake in the famous Gerbeaud Confectionery on Vörösmarty Square.

Neighboring streets like Fashion Street on Deák Ferenc utca, which links Vörösmarty tér with Deák tér, also offer a great shopping experience. Here in the heart of the capital you can find world brands. The shops are formed on the ground and second levels of the renovated buildings in the fashion street. World brands and fashion big guns such as Tommy Hilfiger, Boss, Mexx, byblos, roccobarocco, Lacoste, Sisley, Benetton, Natucia, Furla, Puma, Karl Lagerfeld, Polo Ralph Lauren, Just Cavalli, Giancarlo Ferre Zengarini and Lloyd shoes are present on a total area of 12,000 square meters, and we find here the Vapiano Restuarant, Planet Sushi and Il Patio restaurants, the Mozart Souvenir chocolate shop and the Long Bar.

Other major shopping sections are the main streets radiating out from the city center. Andrássy Avenue, for example, has some of the most glamorous and expensive shops. Upscale boutiques like Louis Vuitton, Ermenegildo Zegna, Burberry, Gucci, and Roberto Cavalli are located here, as well as exclusive gift shops, along with some fine restaurants and cafes. Bajcsy-Zsilinszky utca and Rákóczi út have many shops as well. Budapest also has plenty of shopping malls.
